In case I hadn’t mentioned, I’m working avidly on the planning for Mizuumi-Con 5, OLLU’s own Anime convention. We have two guests so far: Todd Haberkorn and Alexis Tipton. All the info is on our www.mizuumicon.org and facebook.com/mizuumicon.

iPhone Blogging

29 01 2012

I love blogging from my phone! This is pretty cool. I might actually get back into this instead of doing posts on Facebook all the time. I had thought at one point that I would fill in all my facebook statuses (statii?)  for the past couple years in my blog. Gee, that would be a lot of work.

Video?

I’m trying a video…

…and that didn’t work at all.

Dictated with Siri

29 01 2012

This is an experimental post. I’m dictating with Siri on my phone and using the WordPress app, so this is really cool.

One thing I have learned is that I need to pause longer so I get periods in my text and I don’t have to say the word period.

Today was a great day. Jen’s mom was here visiting us for a few days and we took her back to J’s grandmother’s house. (Jen’s grandfather Larry unfortunately passed away this month). We ate some great little roll sandwiches that Jen and her mom made last night today and I ate some Parmesan pita chips. Pretty good! We totally blew our diet but that’s okay. We went to half-price books for a little RT (retail therapy) and bought all kinds of neat things – some books, a game for Brandan called Elven Legacy, a game for Andy called Fate, and we also bought a guitar hero game for the DS. I tried that game tonight and it’s fun but it’s kind of hard because of the size of my hands. I installed Brandanand Andy’s games on the computer so they’ll be ready for tomorrow and right now I’m reading a book called The Novice by Trudy Canavan. Jen are I are both reading the series so we’re enjoying it a lot.

I need to spend some time editing and correcting punctuation grammar in this post (done!) but I’m not gonna worry about that right now because I just want to dictate and get the thoughts down.

This reminds me of something my mom and my aunt Martha did when I was a kid. They would actually record audio tapes and mail them back and forth to each other because Martha lived in Corpus Christi. It was something that I’d never heard anyone else do, but then it was pretty memorable

Last night we watch a movie called Another Earth which was very bizarre and I wasn’t sure I liked it until the ending. The ending was pretty good and I would not have said that it was worth watching until it was over and then I decided that I kind of liked it and the more I thought about it the more I liked it. So it’s a pretty good movie. You’d think from the title that it’s mostly about another earthlike planet, but that’s actually a minor part of the story the story. It is about this girl who I guess wants to be an astronomer or something like that and problems she has in her life. So the other Earth is really a minor player. This movie could easily have been called “How Rhoda screwed up her life”. Ha ha ha. Tonight we watched a movie called cowboys and aliens which was quite good I really liked it it was a long movie it was great had Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford in it I understand it also had John Wayne’s grandson great-grandson but I’m really not sure which Kercher that was.

Okay well it’s 2:43 AM so I think that I will read a few pages of my book and then go to bed then I’ll edit this in the morning good night

Hello WordPress!

27 01 2012

Welcome to WordPress. This is my first post. I’m on my own host, my own domain, all that. Now I don’t ever have to worry about my stuff getting deleted. I haven’t written for a looooooong time, but maybe I’ll try to write more.

Kayley is now a little over 18 months, Andy is 5, Brendan is 8 (but will be 9 in 2 months)

Planning is strongly underway for Mizuumi-Con 5.

Christopher Pagonis and Melissa Armstrong are about to get married a day before mine and Jen’s anniversary on April 28th.

Life is good.

CanoScan N670U Windows 7 Driver

18 10 2011

I’ve been trying for weeks to get my Canon CanoScan N670U scanner working with Windows 7. Since there’s no Windows 7 Win 7 driver for it, I tried instruction from here (http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/47041-canoscan-n670u-no-driver.html) which advised compatibility mode. I couldn’t get that to work. I’ve also used the wonderful VueScan program at work (http://www.hamrick.com), but didn’t want to buy it for home, even though I’m almost sure that spending the $40 would have solved my problem.

So, here’s my solution to make the Canon CanoScan N670U scanner work with Windows 7.

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IT DOWNLOAD THE CanoScan LIDE 200 DRIVER FOR WINDOWS 7 FROM http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/scanners/canoscan_series/canoscan_lide200#DriversAndSoftware

THAT’S IT!!!!!!! Weeks of tweaking and work, and I finally figured it out. Ahhhhh. Thanks for the no help, Canon. It would be ever so helpful if you would post that little tidbit of info on the N670U driver download page.

Cheers!

Mabinogi

13 07 2011

I’m back to playing Mabinogi, which I love.

In the game, there are several acronyms that people ask about.

S> and B> = Selling and Buying (the person either has something for sale or want to bu something)

NMO = Note Me Offers

ES = Enchant Scroll (as in Goddess ES, one of the best enchants you can get)

k = thousand (as in B> Goddess ES 500k) (Of course, no one would sell it for 500,000 gold unless they were a dope)

c/o = Current Offer (as in S> Spaika Silver Gloves c/o 1mil, which means Selling those gloves and the current offer is 1 million gold)

See you in the game!

I tried a Celsius drink today (200mg of caffeine) and it was VILE. Friends, this crap is not worth the $1 per can I paid.
